hi sweet babies,
I’m sad to report that my famous all-american road trip is almost over, which means soon I will have to figure out what on goddess’ green earth to do with my days. I last sent this sexy little email from Chicago where I got so drunk that I was hungover for THREE FULL DAYS?? IS THERE A DOCTOR on the plane literally what is wrong with me??? ANYWAYS I’ve recovered and even started exercising (doing 7 squats before bed) again!
After my The Hangover (amazing film!!!!), we drove from Chicago to a gorgeous spot on Lake Michigan (Sufjan Vibes) in Indiana and then to Pittsburgh where my lover went to college. Obviously seeing my lover’s college town made me nostalgic for “youth in general” and I had a BIT of a meltdown, which is par for the course (I played golf a few weeks ago) these days! It is amazing to be in love with me.
Okay feeling manic today but in a chic way. After Pittsburgh we drove to my lovers’ family cabin in the Berkshires, which is where we first went when this World Famous Quarantine began. FUCK!!! when we leave next week it will be exactly six american months since we first left NYC. Life is a RollieCoastie.com. So, this time next week I’ll be back in my apartment trying to get excited about something. Though I am looking forward to taking a pic of myself wearing an amazing coat in NYC. until then, here are some poems for you all. ALSO PLS MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED TO VOTE FOR JOE BIDEN. Thanks for reading i love u very much!
road trip poem #18
the summer I drove in an oval
around the country
I only almost died twice
how many Folklores til we get there?
I need a high protein snack & a reason to go to DryBar
I need something to look forward to & a microwave
maybe I’ll jog or figure out what squash is
maybe I’ll be the first person on Love Island with cellulite
anything is possible
which is kind of fucked uproad trip poem #19
I call you on your birthday
to say I feel like a loser
you say everyone is a loser
& I should really come back to new york
it’s so good here right now
& you don’t have to see anyone
you don’t want to
it’s time to go back
but then I won’t have anywhere to go
just a place to sit in bed
& read the paris review
where adam phillips calls desire
isolating & oceanic
are people still gonna try to have fun on Halloween?road trip poem #20
I’m jealous of everyone
and wouldn’t change a thing
every time we have sex I tell you
it’s one for the record books
and you say something can’t be special
if everything is. boys love drumming on stuff
boys love taking their shirt off with one hand
oh my god experience
whatever pleasure you can in this life
for example I’m at mcdonalds right nowroad trip poem #21
I have the very popular look of brown hair
& an unhappy person just called me
a rich girl who loves musical theater
which is true and great
I love my long neck
and my old friends
someone annoying just told me
going through something hard
makes you stronger
but I don’t want to be strong
I want to be swaddled in taffeta
fed cakes on a chaise
manicured and praised
even in this economy
I wake shaken from a stress dream
that I couldn’t find a costume
that is both funny & sexy
in time for Halloweenroad trip poem #22
we took a pizza box into the national park
& got a warning for parking bad
I want to write all the worst things I’ve done
out loud so everyone leaves me alone
the water is so blue it’s green
also I have herpes
which unfortunately is
not very dramatic
I hope my life is big
& glows like I hoped
I want expensive soap
& a home with a fireplace
inside and outside
I just have to be patient
which is famously
one of the hardest things to be
Before you go I’d love to share some of the other newsletters that I j’adore!
