wowowow how are you darlings? I’m sweaty and sweet. spring is trying her best to spring. it’s cute! I’m currently flying on a plane to colorado to get some fresh air wait— have you noticed that march is all about this song?
soooo beyond. I dare you to walk around the damp streets of the west village with your coat open, sunglasses on and listen to this song without feeling like the most alive woman who ever wandered <3
“A stick, a stone, the end of the road
The rest of a stump, a lonesome road
A sliver of glass, a life, the sun
A knife, a death, the end of the run
And the river bank talks of the waters of March
It's the end of all strain, it's the joy in your heart”
- from Waters of March by Antônio Carlos Jobim
ah the WINGSPAN of those lyrics ! lovely! anyways WHAT A MONTH! my dream came…literally true. AKA my Netflix special came out— have you watched it yet? It’s called “The Twist? She’s Gorgeous” and well, I’ve been working on it my whole life! Thank you to those who have sent me kind messages, you have no idea how much it means to me— if you can, please spread the word about the special to anyone you think might connect with it <3 it makes all the difference. STREAM THE SPECIAL HERE :)
To celebrate the special I made these gorgina totes featuring a design by Carly Jean Andrews. You can snag one for you and your fave gurlie here:
I also got to chat about the special with legendary journalist Nancy Jo Sales for Vanity Fair. Check it out here.
Enough of that, time for some poems:
A FEMININE POEM
I like atmospheric horror,
tomatoes on the vine
I’m directing a play where I
remember to take my birth control
every day at the same time
A POEM FOR SPRING
It’s 2022 and nothing is embarrassing anymore
have you seen a tiktok?
we’re all doing the same thing
boiling water, going to the shoppes
we’ve agreed now it’s okay
to eat rice it’s ok
to walk home & journal about
icing my tailbone with a bag of frozen peas
on 26th st and 7th avenue
there really was a time when the future
seemed so sure of herself remember
biking to Greenpoint with that girl’s tall brother?
Sex, even when you’re having it,
really is such an ordeal
A POEM ON LETTING GO
Cereal is making a comeback
we’re all rooting for it
the Wordle had her moment
loosen your grip darlings
just have a drink
lately I’m so carsick all the time
even though I walk 10,000
steps a day it’s like
I’m always looking out the window
—————
And I wanted to include one more poem (not by me) that has been rattling around in my brain all month. just the best.
can’t read that without sobbing lol
